Yes, I would think so. Let's see what you think, after reading to the end of this page.

What Is Google Adsense?

Well, that's an easy one to answer.

Google Adsense is an advertising program that was launched in the middle of 2003 by Google, the most popular PPC engine. As you know, it is the current leader in content-sensitive web-based marketing. It's also the most powerful “PPC” marketing tool, I would say.

How and why?, you may ask.

In part, this is now a common knowledge, unless you are absolutely a novice to Internet and "Internet Marketing Strategies".

Are you?

Well, if you are, then I will make sure that you are well informed of Google Adsense, and how it helps the PPC Advertising world in a major way.

I guess, at this point a written explanation of google Adsense is justified. And if you are a veteran, then I beg your pardon. But, there is nothing wrong in revisiting some of the basics of this PPC advertising source.

Here are some FAQ's to delve deeply into this. I am not trying to bombard you with some reading materials just for the heck of it. This Adsense FAQ is quality material. I want you to get a very good headstart with this PPC advertising tool. Ony good intention here...

How Google Adsense Can Help Your PPC Campaign?

As you see, PPC Advertising has become a popular method of placing advertising on websites, because the advertisements are less intrusive than most banners. And most of the times, the content of the advertisement is relevant to the website.

Of course, some times you will see irrelevant junk also. I have websites with the so called junk and public service ads on the ones that have the content automatically generated (Content farming).

But, in my experience, if your website has high quality and original content, then you don't have to worry.

You see, there are many webmasters, I must say, including me, I am sorry, who use black hat strategies to create websites, especially "Blog Farms" that use regurgitated content from other websites and blogs. And since the content is scraped and pasted on to my blogs by a software, sometimes the sentences does not make any sense and the content thus scraped is a lot of times, off-context.

Note of Caution:

Do not use Blog farms and other content farming strategies as Google has already axed such content websites in their latest algorithmic change.

Read about it on Google Blog

It is in such cases that Google adsense ads serve public messages on the website.

If this thing happens, I go and change the content manually, and see if that changes the quality of the ad too? And it does. This time it's more relevant.

So, the conclusion that I draw here is that, Google's system is not to blame for this situation. It's the quality and substance of your content that affects the ad.

You see, how the system, in a way supports good content and also supports the PPC marketer. The advertiser is paying money to place their Google Adwords ad, on a clean and quality website and not some junk site.

Google Adsense' role in delivering advertising revenue to small websites that do not have the resources for developing an advertising sales program and hiring sales people is quite significant. And therefore, websites with good quality and original content, have been very successful with this advertising program.

This is absolutely true. There are so many instances where, a good number of marketers, earn anywhere from $100 to $3,000 in a single day (you hear me right? A single day), using Google adsense.

just imagine how effective this is to "Make Money From Home" with Google adsense!!!....$$$

You be around and visit this and other pages frequently. I think you should also share this with your friends and people that you know who need to make some extra income online with Google adsense.

The motivation for the webmasters and website owners to display Google adsense on their websites is now pretty clear.

Isn't it?

A content-rich website will profit highly from adsense, as it will attract the most relevant ads. This will mean a good visitor experience and most likely a click on your ad. So you need to have quality and original content on your website to succeed with adsense.

The advertiser who has to pay for that click will also be rewarded with the visitor's experience. And if the landing page/website of the advertiser add to the user's experience, then the user is yours to keep. So, Google adsense is really a win-win-win situation.

How Effective Is Google AdSense As a Marketing Medium?

I would say quite effective. Of course there are some weaknesses to this system as you will find out. But overall, it's effective in a way.

As you know this, PPC offers a good potential for the adsense publishers. Therefore, the potential for the marketers to reach a wider traffic, due to the constant increase in the adsense publishers, is huge.

Adsense functions within the Google Adwords interface. I don't know whether you have noticed that, adsense is enabled by default, when you actually sign-up for your Google adwords account. My tests and research have indicated that, over 75% of your PPC advertising traffic come from adsense and the rest only from Google adwords. I would have thought that, all the PPC traffic came from adwords. No...

But, the Click-Through-Rates (CTR), registered for my adsense ads, were very low.

I hope you know by now these terms. If you don't then please go to the free SEO dictionary here to learn all the terms.

Here is what I concluded from my little, but very thorough test and research. The CTR from Google adsense was lower as compared to adwords, even when the bid price was high for adsense.

In my humble opinion, the reason for this could be, because an adword click represented a potential customer, where as, Google adsense click come from a site that primarily catered to information seekers.

According to me, here are the factors that can affect your CTR:

- Google Adsense algorithm:

Determines where your ads will appear.

- Adwords category selection:

when you initially sign-up for Google adwords account. Generally this category is quite broad. The above criteria does not always deliver accurate results. Many times the adsense ads appear on websites that hardly have any relevance.

And Google does not let you in on the fact, where your adsense ads are actually shown. If the site is not relevant, or has crappy content on it, then obviously your CTR will suffer drastically.

Long story short, we are in fact at the mercy of Google when it comes to adsense.

Is Google Adsense Worth Your Time And Trouble?

Must Have Keyword Tools for Adsense Success

Well I would think so. Adsense presents a huge potential for the marketers, especially, service providers to expose their product/service, through the ever increasing adsense publishers. There is lot of potential if the ads are well delivered.

But anyways, I have gathered some points that you need to be aware of, based on my own experience, training, coaching and research on the topic.

Here you go...

1 - First and foremost, remember that when you initially setup your adwords account, "Google adsense" is enabled by default. Make sure that you disable adsense, if you do not want to try it.

2 - Remember how you setup different ad groups for “Google adwords; Likewise, setup different ad groups for your adsense too. And when you setup your adsense group, use low value keywords, as adsense clicks are less targeted and converts less, compared to adwords.

3 - Always pre-qualify your visitors by designing your ad copy in such a way that, it discourages window shoppers and freebie hunters. Include a call to action, and where possible, include pricing in your ad copy.

4 - Tracking, tracking and more tracking. I cannot stress enough the importance of tracking. Remember, if you cannot measure, you cannot manage! Use for this purpose very good tracking tool. Google provides you with a tracking tool, but it is not very comprehensive. Google does not tell you where your adsense clicks are coming from, which website etc. It does not either let you choose a website to place your adsense ad on. For this reason alone, tracking is vital with Google adsense. Also you should track your adwords and adsense ads separately, to determine how good or bad each of them converts. Your ROI (return On Investment) will be the key indicator and measure of your success.

5 - You as an advertiser, should, familiarize with, how adsense process actually works on the publishing side. I have provided links to some useful resources above. Please read and understand them. You should remember that, you are at the mercy of Google when it comes to adsense.

6 - Always test the waters, meaning, test your ads, before launching a full scale ad campaign.

7 - If you discover your ads being displayed on an irrelevant site, you can request the site owner to filter out your website URL.

Adsense publishers can filter upto 200 URLs. This will be a little tricky, but you need to persuade the site owner into doing this.

Well there you are. The above points will serve you better, if you plan and incorporate the above guidelines, into your ad campaign.

There is no short cut to success here. You need to be on top of your advertising campaign and closely track and monitor your results to a granular level.
